At one time I began researching a book on the "Southern Statesmen" (read: white Southerners) who had the courage to stand up during the Civil Rights movement. McGill, Charles Weltner, Ivan Allen — I have a list of nearly a hundred. McGill was a starting point.

I do know that, but only because his son is in my FB friends list. Ralph, Sr. adored my parents and vice versa. He was a legend.
