The Seattle Post-Intelligencer is looking for a buyer. If they don’t find one in 60 days they will either shut down or go to a online-only model with a far smaller staff. This is a big deal because the P-I is the only paper in a large, metropolitan city. If it’s happening in Seattle, you can expect it to happen in other major U.S. cities as well.
I can’t imagine a major city without a daily newspaper. But, people will always seek out the news, so I’m sure some new model for news gathering and dissemination will emerge. Should be an interesting decade.
