Just canceled my U-Verse TV service — the family decided we could go without. We figured that most of the shows we love to watch — “Battlestar Gallactica,” “The Office” and “Family Guy” — all come on Hulu.com. So why pay for TV at all?

The new digital converter box helped with the sell. Unfortunately, I had to pay $50 for it because my $40 coupon expired after 90 days. Doh! Should’ve read the fine print. Anyhoo, all of the broadcast channels came in crystal clear (except for PBS, guess they haven’t made the switch yet) plus a few other stations. Watched a few minutes of “McCloud” on the Retro TV channel. I didn’t have an antennae, so I just stuck a speaker wire in the back of it. I’ll buy an antennae next and see if I get any more channels.

It’s a brave new world, and I’m living in it.
