Here’s a great joke regarding the friction-filled relationship between reporters and editors.
A reporter and an editor are stranded in the desert. As they near death, they finally find an oasis. They crawl toward it with the last of their energy. The reporter bends down to drink from a pool of sweet water and he hears the trickling of running water. He looks over and sees the editor taking a leak in the pool of water.
“What the hell are you doing!” the reporter exclaims.
“Relax,” replies the editor. “I’m making it better.”
Told to me originally by my old colleague, Jules Crittenden, who was a reporter at the time. He’s now an editor, so I wonder if he thinks it’s still funny.
