One of my frequent commenters has an editorial in the Manchester Union-Leader regarding the immigration bill. It’s a good editorial because he defines his opposition and then actually offers a better alternative:

A more honest immigration policy would be one that recognizes that America needs its strawberry and tomato pickers and slaughterhouse workers. Many of the workers who meet this economic demand tend to come from south of the border, the one that has been hardest to police. Building a wall there isn’t the answer. Neither is a legalization process with too many conditions attached.

I’m in the some-progress-is-better-than-no-progress camp.
