I always though it was odd that CNN fired boring-but-stoic Aaron Brown in favor of boyishly simple Anderson Cooper. Now, it looks like it was a really bad idea:

CNN sacked Brown believing Cooper could draw a bigger, younger audaud at 10 p.m. But that hasn’t happened. And the Vanity Fair cover hit just as April ratings showed Coop down 36 percent in the 25-54 demo, the younger aud he was supposed to attract.

It’s certainly not for trying. CNN did all they could to promote Cooper. They plastered his face all over the country. I thought good newsmen had to earn their fame? Apparently, they still do.

By the way, did you know that Anderson Cooper is the son of Gloria Vanderbilt?
